Don't Forget To Share Your Small Business Sustainability Efforts With The World

Over the last 20 years or so, some of the largest companies in the world have been investing in environmental sustainability and in doing so, have helped us all focus on the future of our environment and on trying to make a more responsible impact.  While the public relations angle must have been taken into consideration, it is still a very positive sign for the future of business sustainability in general.  It is the actions of the bigger companies that will influence how our small businesses handle their sustainability planning in the future.

If you have recently begun expanding your efforts in the area of sustainability and have taken some steps in that direction, don't forget to share that information with your customers.  One way you could accomplish this is to print your brochures on recycled paper and then make note of that on the brochure itself.  When catering lunch for clients, seek out organic and local foods.  Let your clients know how you are working to reduce your carbon footprint.

When searching for green products and services for your small business, have a discussion with your vendors about your efforts and how you are trying to reduce the time and energy involved in obtaining their products or services.  Word of mouth from one client to another about your businesses sustainability efforts could result in a customer at your door.
Because so many of us are really trying to lead more sustainable lives it is only natural that we would seek out local small businesses that feel the same.  When a customer chooses your small business because it reinforces their efforts, you will develop a more trusting relationship with your customer.  Not only will you be better poised for business success, you will find that your endeavors are also rewarding for you as well.

At Whale Tails our commitment to the environment and sustainability includes the ocean life that has been integral to both the product and the mission of Whale Tails since its inception in 2007.
